This 15-day journey combines a safari through Tanzania’s Northern Circuit with time to explore and relax in Zanzibar. You will visit Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti, with several days dedicated to exploring the Serengeti and its wildlife.

After the safari, you will fly to Zanzibar for a mix of Stone Town, spice farms, Prison Island, sandbanks, snorkeling, beach time, Safari Blue, and a visit to The Rock Restaurant. The itinerary is designed to give you a good balance of wildlife, culture, activities, and time to relax.

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport – Transfer to Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, you will be met by a representative from Joagro Safaris Tanzania and transferred to your hotel in Arusha.

Once at the hotel, you will have time to relax after your journey and prepare for the safari. Your guide will also provide a briefing about the itinerary, accommodation, logistics, and departure time for the following morning.

Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, you will meet your safari guide and begin your journey to Tarangire National Park. There will be an opportunity to make a short stop in Arusha for any last-minute purchases before continuing to the park.

Tarangire is known for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and varied wildlife. During the game drive, you may see elephants, lions, leopards, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, buffalo, antelopes, and many bird species.

A picnic lunch will be enjoyed in the park before continuing with the afternoon game drive. Later, you will proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater – Serengeti National Park

After an early breakfast, depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive.

The crater supports a high concentration of wildlife, including wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, elephants, hippos, warthogs, hyenas, lions, and cheetahs. With some luck, you may also spot a leopard or the endangered black rhino.

You will also visit the Lake Magadi area, where flamingos and other waterbirds can often be seen.

After the crater visit, continue towards Serengeti National Park, arriving later in the afternoon. Proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Full-Day Serengeti National Park

Today is dedicated to exploring the Serengeti.

After breakfast, head out with your guide for a full-day game drive across the park. The Serengeti is home to large populations of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, hippos, and antelopes, together with predators such as lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and leopards.

Your guide will follow wildlife movements and select suitable areas for game viewing and photography. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed during the game drive before continuing into the afternoon.

Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Full-Day Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, head out for another full day of game viewing in the Serengeti.

Having additional time in the park allows you to explore different areas and follow wildlife movements. Depending on the season and location, you may encounter lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, cheetahs, hyenas, hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species.

Enjoy a picnic lunch during the game drive before returning to your lodge in the late afternoon.

Day 6: Full-Day Serengeti National Park

Enjoy another full day in the Serengeti, with the game drive planned around wildlife activity and your interests.

You may start with an early morning game drive when temperatures are cooler and many animals are active. After breakfast or a picnic lunch, continue exploring different areas of the park throughout the day.

Your guide will adjust the route according to wildlife movements and opportunities for photography.

Return to the lodge in the evening.

Day 7: Serengeti – Karatu

Distance: Approximately 200 km | Driving time: About 2–3 hours, depending on stops and game viewing

After breakfast, enjoy a final game drive in the Serengeti as you make your way towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Karatu.

This is another opportunity to enjoy the Serengeti landscapes and spot wildlife before leaving the park.

Continue to Karatu, located near the Ngorongoro Highlands, where you can relax at your lodge and enjoy a quiet evening.

Day 8: Karatu – Arusha Airport – Flight to Zanzibar

After breakfast, depart Karatu and travel towards Arusha Airport for your flight to Zanzibar.

Upon arrival in Zanzibar, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Stone Town. The rest of the day is free to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the historic town.

Zanzibar Experiences

Day 9: Stone Town Tour & Sandbank Experience

After breakfast, begin your Zanzibar experience with a guided tour of historic Stone Town.

Explore the narrow streets and learn about Zanzibar’s history and culture. Depending on the route and time available, you can visit landmarks such as the House of Wonders, Sultan’s Palace, former Slave Market, and Freddie Mercury’s former home.

Later, head to a nearby sandbank where you can swim, relax, and snorkel. A freshly prepared seafood lunch will be served, with local options such as octopus, lobster, squid, and fish, together with fresh tropical fruits.

Return to Stone Town for the evening.

Day 10: Spice Farm & Prison Island

Today you will visit a local spice farm and learn about Zanzibar’s long history as a major spice-producing island.

You will see and learn about spices such as cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, and black pepper, as well as other tropical plants and fruits. A traditional local lunch will be served before continuing to Prison Island.

At Prison Island, you will have the opportunity to see the famous Aldabra giant tortoises and learn about the island’s history.

Return to Stone Town in the afternoon.

Day 11: Stone Town – Nungwi Beach

After breakfast, check out and meet your driver for the transfer from Stone Town to Nungwi on the northern coast of Zanzibar.

Day 12: Nungwi Beach – Relaxation Day

Today is a free day to enjoy Nungwi at your own pace.

In the evening, you can watch the sunset from the beach.

Day 13: Full-Day Safari Blue Experience

Today you will enjoy a full-day Safari Blue excursion around the waters of Menai Bay.

Travel by traditional dhow boat and spend the day swimming, snorkeling, and exploring the marine environment. You will visit a sandbank and Kwale Island while enjoying the surrounding coastal scenery.

A freshly prepared seafood barbecue will be served, accompanied by fresh tropical fruits.

Return to Nungwi after the excursion.

Day 14: The Rock Restaurant – Michamvi

Today you will visit the famous The Rock Restaurant in Michamvi.

Spend your final evening relaxing at Nungwi.

Day 15: Zanzibar – Airport – Departure

After breakfast, your Tanzania and Zanzibar holiday comes to an end.
